Derek Elliott specializes in training for character animation and 3d art

producing animation for commercials and videos before moving on to teaching in
the 3D animation program at Seneca College.
In 2001, while teaching, Derek started working as a freelance animator on game
titles. With Toronto's Pseudo Interactive, Derek was one of the lead character
animators for the cinematics in the xbox title Cel Damage. And in 2002 Derek
worked full-time as a senior animator at Torus Games in Australia working on
games such as Ice Nine (ps2), Tao Berman Extreme Kayaking (mulit), and Grand
Prix Challenge (ps2, xbox). He has also been Art Director for Artimetix on a
Massively Multiplayer Game and is currently the Producer at Black Ice

development with 3ds max and the Unreal engine.
As well as being the coordinator of the Gaming program at Seneca College's
Animation Arts Centre, Derek freelances in the animation industry and provides
instruction to studios and professionals on new releases of software and
animation techniques.
Derek's classes focus on development of animation skills and techniques using a
wide variety of tools. Character Studio is a main component however custom
rigging and custom rig animation may also be included in the curriculum. Derek
can also cover any elements of modeling and texturing. All of these topics and
skills are transferrable over many areas of production including television and
film, broadcast, video games and print.
A
word from Patrick Attie'
Vice - Dean - Unv. - Haiti
"Another Excellent day! The fact that we have little
projects and time to practice
during the day is a good thing - However, some experience in
character animation is a big plus,
as well as a basic knowledge of CS and the production process
in order to get the
most out of the class."
Murph' Note: we Highly recommend taking Ted Boardman's
Fundamentals Class prior to
Derek's Character Animation Class!
My schedule is tight but I still want to learn as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. Murphy’s 2-4 day advance classes are fast pace and the small class size allows students to absorb allot of material in a very sort time frame. The instructors have given me focused attention to cover new material and time saving techniques that have shaved hours off my projects and has given me the ability to be more creative with my designs. Jim has always provided top notch instructors like famous author Ted Boardman, Amer Yassine, Ken LaRue, and many others. Training materials (books, cd’s, etc..) have always been included so I don’t have to worry about spending more money unlike other training facilities. The class accommodations are most excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed. This is what keeps me coming back again and again!
